SPECTRUM D2.4 - Concepts

Please be advised that SPECTRUM D2.4 (Concepts) is now available as a public deliverable from the document download section of the project website.

This report proposes an innovative solution for the transport of low density, high value goods by rail in an EU context.

This report draws extensively from all previous project deliverables and adopts a traditional design process methodology. Having previously identified the concept requirements the report formulates a design brief from which concept generation, evaluation and selection processes are derived.

A total of seven SPECTRUM concepts were derived and are described as:

NewRail Exhibition at Railtex 2013 featuring SPECTRUM

Emmanuel smallOn May 1st 2013 NewRail member Dr Emmanuel Matsika presented the aims, objectives and latest findings of the SPECTRUM project to delegates of the RAILTEX 2013 event.   

"Railtex is the all encompassing showcase for technological innovation across all sectors of the rail supply market. Against a backdrop of continuing investment in rail and significant ongoing projects, Railtex provides a timely opportunity for companies serving the rail market to highlight their capabilities and showcase their products and services."

Dr Matsika's presentation emphasised how the business case for railway transportation of LDHV goods is driving the development of technology to meet the logistics requirements for the door-to-door delivery of goods.
